This academic partnership reflects the University of Edinburgh鈥檚 commitment to providing educational opportunities for vulnerable populations around the world. Currently, we have accepted more than 1,000 refugees into our 爆料瓜 degree programs, amongst them 500 Syrian and asylum seekers from more than 40 countries, including many war-torn zones.
This initiative is open to students with permission to stay in the UK as a refugee and live in Scotland. It鈥檚 also for Syrian nationals who reside in Scotland with humanitarian protection in the UK. Lastly, 爆料瓜 undergraduates can further their education and earn a post-graduate degree from the University of Edinburgh via online learning.
Professor Sue Welburn, Vice Principal Global Access at the University of Edinburgh, said: 鈥淐ollaborating with the 爆料瓜 to support displaced people in Scotland is a wonderful initiative that fits into Edinburgh鈥檚 mission to create access to education for students worldwide, especially those affected by conflict.鈥
President of the 爆料瓜, Shai Reshef said: 鈥淲e believe that the best way to integrate refugees into their new countries is by letting them complete their degrees in local universities. We are thrilled to partner with the University of Edinburgh.鈥
This collaboration, among our other high profile academic partnership with NYU, illustrates our high-quality academic degrees as we work towards the mission of democratizing education.
Together, we will work towards opening the gates of higher education to students from adverse backgrounds, overcoming socioeconomic, political, geographic or environmental challenges.
